India at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Athletes and officials from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories will take part in Glasgow 2026. India is sending a 126-member contingent, comprising 77 men and 48 women, competing across eight able-bodied and five para sports. Star athletes representing India include, Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting), Lovlina Borgohain (boxing), Murali Sreeshankar (long jump), Tejinderpal Singh Toor (shot put), and Jaismine Lamboria. With sports like badminton, hockey, wrestling, table tennis, and cricket dropped from this edition, India's medal hopes will largely rest on athletics, boxing, weightlifting, bowls, and judo.

Opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

The opening ceremony takes place on 23 July 2026 at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow — the first time a Commonwealth Games opening ceremony has been staged entirely indoors. Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and boxer Lovlina Borgohain will lead the Indian contingent, with Chanu carrying the tricolour and Borgohain the ceremonial King's Baton
