Vice President Launches India Valve Registry at India Valves 2026

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan launched the India Valve Registry on 5 September 2026 during India Valves 2026, a collaborative initiative aimed at building India-specific clinical evidence on heart valve treatments. 

About India Valves 2026

India Valves 2026 is a national academic meeting focused on valvular and structural heart diseases, bringing together cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, researchers and healthcare professionals from India and abroad. The event serves as a platform for scientific exchange, training and collaborative research in this field. It was attended by Tamil Nadu's Health Minister K. G. Arunraj, along with senior cardiologists including Dr G. Sengottuvelu, Dr Ashok Seth and Dr Praveen Chandra, besides cardiac surgeons and other medical professionals.

About India Valve Registry

1. The India Valve Registry is a multicentre initiative designed to systematically, securely and anonymously collect real-world data on transcatheter valve interventions across hospitals in India. 
2. Its main goal is to generate India-specific clinical evidence rather than depending on data from other countries, helping doctors understand treatment outcomes in Indian patients and continuously improve clinical practices. 
3. The Vice-President said turning individual clinical experiences into collective medical knowledge would strengthen evidence-based cardiac care and support collaborative research on valvular and structural heart diseases nationwide.

V-P Radhakrishnan Highlights India's Growing Healthcare Capabilities

Radhakrishnan called healthcare a human right, stressing that medical advancements must be accessible to everyone. He pointed to India's COVID-19 response, noting the country developed vaccines and supplied them to around 100 nations, as proof of its scientific and medical strength. He added that India's goal of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047 must go hand in hand with building a Swasth Bharat, where innovation genuinely improves people's lives. He also urged greater collaboration among clinicians, researchers and institutions to keep medical progress centred on patient welfare.
