Booker Prize winner for “The God of Small Things,” Suzanna Arundhati Roy has released her latest memoir “Mother Mary Comes to Me” in Kochi, Kerala.

• Writer Arundhati Roy (Booker Prize winning novelist)’s tireless memoir, “Mother Mary Comes to Me,” depicts the eventful life and times of her mother, an inspired teacher and an unfinished inspiration.

• This event was jointly organized by Penguin and DC Books. The event discussed her new book, how it was created, and those events of the writer’s childhood that shaped her.

Booker Prize

• Arundhati Roy, an Indian writer and activist, entered the best-seller list in 1997 and at the age of 36 won the Booker Prize for her first novel, “The God of Small Things,” a vivid story of a troubled family.
• Her second work, more politically influenced, “The Ministry of Utmost Happiness,” was published after 20 years of several non-fiction books.

About Suzanna Arundhati Roy

• Suzanna Arundhati Roy was born on 24 November, 1961 in Shillong of undivided Assam (now Meghalaya) in a Christian family. Her mother, Mary Roy, was a Malayali Jacobite Syrian Christian women’s rights activist from Kerala.
• She was the winner of the 2024 PEN Pinter Prize given by English PEN.
