Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the National Handloom Week-2023 in Jaipur on August 3 through video conference to promote Handloom and Khadi sector. The Office of Commissioner, Industries & Commerce and Rajasthan Export Promotion Council are coordinating agencies for the Handloom Week. Through this event of National Handloom Week, producers of the handloom and khadi sector will get an opportunity to help in development.
Rajasthan Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Policy-2022 had made a provision that this type of event would be organized every year. With this, buyers will be attracted towards the handloom products of the state at the national and international level. Along with this, various products of handloom weavers and Khadi of the state will be encouraged.
Industries and Commerce Minister Smt. Shakuntala Rawat said that the organization of National Handloom Week will encourage the products of weavers, handloom and khadi sector of the state.
The Chief Minister said that Rajasthan's first Handicrafts Policy-2022 has been issued for the upliftment of handicrafts and handloom sector products and artisans associated with them.
Major Handloom Products of the State are Kota Doria Sarees, pattu, khes, reza, lattha, bardi, blanket, loi, shawl, gauze bandage, durries, carpets etc.
The Council has been incorporated as a Company U/S 8 of the Indian Companies Act 2013. The REPC works for the promotion of Exports in the state as per the provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy of the Government of India and policies of the Government of Rajasthan.
