Norwegian chess player Magnus Carlsen won the 2023 FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship. Magnus Carlsen captures world rapid chess crown for record fifth time.

Vladimir Fedoseev and Yu Yangyi finished second and third at the 2023 FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship.
Magnus Carlsen becomes the first player to defend his World Rapid Championship title.
Magnus Carlsen has won a total 16 World Championship titles including 5 Rapid titles, 6 Blitz titles and 5 Classical titles.
In August 2023, Magnus Carlsen won the FIDE World Cup title by defeating Indian Grandmaster Ramesh Babu Praggnanandhaa.

2023 Women's World Rapid Champion:

Russian chess player Anastasia Bodnaruk defeated India's top female player Koneru Humpy to win her first world title.
Koneru Hampi won the World Rapid Champion in 2019.
