Missile cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge LSAM 10 (Yard 78) was commissioned at Visakhapatnam on 20 November 2023 by M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt. Ltd. (SEPPL).

Built by MSME Shipyard, M/s SEPPL:

Launch of the fourth Missile Cum Ammunition Barge (LSAM 10, Yard 78) for the Indian Navy took place on Nov 20, 2023, at Guttenadeevi, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, by MSME Shipyard, M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt Ltd.
A special function organized for this was presided over by Commodore Shanmugam Sabesan, CRO (East).

Agreement between Ministry of Defense and M/s SEPPL:

The contract for the construction of 08 x Missile cum Ammunition Barge boats was signed on 19 February 2021 between the Ministry of Defense and M/s SECON Engineering Projects Pvt. Ltd., Visakhapatnam.

Utility of MCA Barge Ferry:

The availability of these barge boats will expedite the operational activities of the Indian Navy by facilitating transportation, movement of essential goods and loading and unloading.
This will also ensure supply of goods/ammunition to Indian ships near the coast and at external ports.

Indigenously designed and manufactured:

These barge boats are the proud flag bearers of the Make in India initiative of the Government of India.
These boats are indigenously designed and built as per relevant naval rules and under the regulation of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).
During the design phase, model testing of the barge boat was carried out at the Naval Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam.

Third Barge Boat:

It is noteworthy that before this, another barge boat was inducted into the Indian Navy on 27 October 2023. A third barge boat equipped with ammunition, torpedoes and missiles was launched.
This has resulted in a tremendous increase in the strength of the Indian Navy. The Defense Ministry said that this would increase the operational speed by providing the Navy the facility to transport and unload goods and ammunition at sea ports and external ports.
The Defense Ministry said that it has been prepared by M/s Surya Deept Projects Private Limited Thane under Make in India and Self-reliant India.
With this, the target of construction and delivery of Torpedo cum Missile Barge Long-Narrow Boat equipped with 11 x ammunition was accomplished.
According to the Defense Ministry, the shipyard working for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has successfully completed two barge boats and handed them over to the Indian Navy. These long-narrow boats are being constructed under the classification rules of the Indian Register of Shipping.

Strategic capability of Indian Navy will increase:

The launch of these barge boats in the Indian Ocean has further increased the strength of the Indian Navy. With this, no one, be it China or Pakistan, can challenge India in the sea.
