KVIC launches khadi rakhi ‘Khadi Rakshasootr' Economy 2 min read

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has launched ‘Khadi Rakshasoot' (Khadi Rakhi) to commemorate the Raksha Bandhan. The Khadi Rakshasoot' was launched by KVIC chairman Manoj Kumar in New Delhi on 23rd August 2023. The  'Khadi Rakshasoot' has been introduced under the aegis of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

The 'Khadi Rakshasoot'  has been made by women in rural areas. The 'Khadi Rakshasoot' is entirely natural, devoid of any chemical additives. Some of the Khadi Rakshasoot' has been made of cow dung incorporating Basil, tomato, brinjal seeds in it further enhances its composition.

The Khadi Village and Industries Commission(KVIC):

  • The Khadi Village and Industries Commission(KVIC) was set up in 1957 under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act of 1956.
  • It is under the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises.
  • It is responsible for planning, promotion, organisation, and implementation of programs for the development of Khadi and other village industries in the rural areas along with other agencies engaged in rural development wherever necessary.
