The 75th Republic Day celebrations at the majestic Kartavya Path on January 26, 2024, will largely be "women-centric" as women marching contingents will form the major part of the parade. Additionally, for the first time, farmers and their spouses are invited as special guests. A French marching and band contingents will also participate in the Republic Day parade. 

Highlights of the 75th Republic Day Parade

The theme of the 75th Republic Day is 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat — Loktantra ki Matruka'.

Women Centric

About 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments will perform at the parade. This will showcase India's cultural diversity.

  • For the first time, a contingent of women from the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force will march together at the parade. This is called the tri-services contingent.
  • A contingent of women police officers and security forces will also march. This will highlight women's increasing role in these fields.
  • There will be colorful tableaux or parade floats from different states and ministries. Many will have all-women teams and celebrate women's achievements.
  • So this year's parade has a strong focus on women's empowerment and contribution to India's progress. The best representations of women will be seen in this year’s Republic Day Parade and many will be honored.

Farmers Invited as Special Guests

For the first time in history, about 1,500 farmers and their spouses have been invited as special guests for this year's Republic Day parade in New Delhi. 

  • The farmer representatives of Farmers Producers Organisations (FPOs), beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), and micro-irrigation schemes from across the country have been selected to attend the parade.
  • After the parade, Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda will host lunch for the farmers as a gesture of appreciation. It is worth mentioning that 500 farmers were invited as special guests during last year's Independence Day.

French Band

  • A team of 95-member marching contingent and a 33-member band from France will be participating in the parade. 
  • In addition to the Indian Air Force aircraft, two Rafale fighter jets and one Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft from the French Air Force will also be a part of the fly-past.

French President Emmanuel Macron will be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.

Anant Sutra

In another unique initiative, the Ministry of Culture will be showcasing 'Anant Sutra — The Endless Thread' textile installation at Kartavya Path. 

  • Sutra pays homage to the saree, India's timeless contribution to fashion, and will be installed behind the audience seated in the enclosures. 
  • This one-of-a-kind installation will feature nearly 1,900 sarees and drapes from all over the country, mounted at various heights with wooden frames along the Kartavya Path.

Special Guests

Around “1,300 Special guests" will be invited to the event, including top performers from various fields and individuals who have benefited from government schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Street Vendor's Aatmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi), PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, and PM Vishwakarma Yojana, among others.
