The World Economic Forum (WEF), in collaboration with Accenture, released its Energy Transition Index (ETI) 2026, ranking 120 countries on their energy system performance and readiness to shift to clean energy. India improved by two places to rank 70th globally with a total score of 54.9. While global clean energy investment reached $3.3 trillion, the report warns that overall transition readiness has declined for the first time in over a decade due to policy and financing challenges.
In the Energy Transition Index 2026, India ranked 70th out of 120 countries.
