PM Modi Hails India’s Record 10-Medal Win at Asian Archery 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian archery team for their best-ever performance by winning 10 medals, including 6 gold, at the Asian Archery Championships 2025. Mr. Modi highlighted the historic recurve men’s gold medal won after a gap of 18 years.

• India won six gold medals, including a historic gold medal in the men’s individual recurve event - the country’s first gold medal in 18 years.
• Paris Olympians B. Dhiraj and Ankita Bhakt became the first Indian male and female recurve players.
• Ankita defeated Korea’s Paris Olympic silver medalist Nam Suhyeon 7-3, while Dhiraj defeated compatriot Rahul 6-2 in the final to win the gold medal.
• The Indian recurve men ended the 18-year wait for gold by defeating South Korea in a shoot-off.

Major medals

• This gold medal run also included the women’s team event won by Deepshikha, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep. In the men’s individual recurve, Rahul had to settle for a silver medal after losing to compatriot Dhiraj Bommadevara in the final.
• Sangeeta won the bronze medal in the women’s individual recurve after winning against Deepika Kumari in a shoot-off. The men’s recurve team of Yashdeep Bhoge, Atanu Das and Rahul also won a gold medal after defeating South Korea in a shoot-off.
• Ankita Bhakt won another gold medal in the women’s individual recurve. Jyothi Surekha Vennam returned to the podium twice, winning gold medals in both the women’s individual and team compound events.
• India’s tally of 10 medals is its best-ever performance in the history of the Asian Archery Championships.

2025 Asian Archery Championships Tournament

• The 2025 Asian Archery Championships was the 24th edition of the tournament, held from 8 to 14 November 2025 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. India was the most successful country in the tournament. South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan secured second, third and fourth positions respectively.
