India and Armenia Sign Defence Cooperation MoU

India and Armenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to strengthen cooperation in the defence sector. The agreement was signed during Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh's visit to Yerevan, where he met Armenia's Minister of High Tech Industry, Davit Tadevosyan, on August 17, 2026, reaffirming both countries' commitment to expanding defence industrial ties in areas of shared interest.

Agreement Focuses on Research, Development, Innovation, and Shared Production

1. The MoU specifically covers cooperation in research, development, innovation, and shared production within the defence industry.

The MoU was signed by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Armenia's Minister of High Tech Industry, Davit Tadevosyan, in Yerevan on August 17, 2026. Ambassador of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, also attended the meeting. Alongside this signing, Singh held separate talks with Armenia's Minister of Defence, Suren Papikyan, to explore additional ways to deepen bilateral defence ties, and also met Armenia's Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen Edvard Asryan, during the visit.

This MoU adds a concrete industrial dimension to what has largely been a growing but still-developing defence relationship.
