Bharat Tex Trade Federation and Première Vision SA Sign Strategic MoU to Strengthen India-France Textile and Fashion Collaboration

The Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) and Première Vision SA, a leading global platform for fashion, textiles and sourcing, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on September 2, 2026, at the Première Vision exhibition in Paris. The agreement establishes a multi-year institutional partnership designed to strengthen India's presence in the global fashion and textile ecosystem, opening new pathways for Indian manufacturers and designers to connect with international markets.

Key Areas of Collaboration Between India and France

1. Delegation and Knowledge Sessions: Reciprocal participation of exhibitors, delegations, speakers and experts at both organisations' trade shows, backed by joint export promotion and buyer-seller meets
2. Export Promotion and Market Linkages: Joint initiatives to widen market access, including buyer-seller and reverse buyer-seller meets, along with exchange of market intelligence
3. Sustainability: Cooperation on promoting circularity, traceability and responsible production practices across both platforms
4. Heritage and Craftsmanship: Launch of an Eternal Crafts Collaboration to showcase Indian and French heritage textiles, including "A Living Thread" in January 2027, spotlighting Indian hand embroidery, handloom techniques and French textile traditions

A Joint Steering Committee will oversee the implementation of all these initiatives going forward.

Connecting Indian Textiles with the Global Fashion Ecosystem

Première Vision has served as an international benchmark for the fashion industry for more than five decades. This partnership gives Indian textile manufacturers, exporters, designers and artisans a direct route to international buyers, fashion houses and premium sourcing networks. A key goal is helping India shift from volume-based exports toward design-led, high-value and premium textile segments. Access to Première Vision's trend intelligence platforms will help Indian enterprises align with evolving global demand and connect with buyers looking for sustainable, quality-driven sourcing.

Stronger Market Access Amid India-EU Trade Momentum

This partnership arrives soon after the conclusion of India-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations in January 2026, which grants preferential access on 96.8% of tariff lines, covering 99.5% of India's exports. For textiles specifically, the opportunity is substantial; the EU's global textile and apparel imports stood at nearly US$292.8 billion in 2025, while India's exports to the EU currently sit around US$10.4 billion. Zero-duty access under the FTA is expected to significantly boost Indian exports of garments, yarns and home textiles to Europe.

1. The MoU was signed by Dr. A. Sakthivel, Core Committee Member of BTTF and Chairman of AEPC, and Ms. Florence Rousson, CEO of Première Vision SA's Fashion Division. 
2. The ceremony was attended by Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, and Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), along with industry leaders, designers, and embassy officials. 
3. This agreement builds on a Letter of Intent signed on July 14, 2026, at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi, in the presence of Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, turning that early commitment into a structured, long-term partnership.
