IIT Guwahati to host 2024 India International Science Festival Science and Technology 4 min read

For the first time, the prestigious Indian International Science Festival will be held in the country's Northeastern region. The Indian Institute of Technology - Guwahati will host the 10th  India International Science Festival 2024 from 30 November to 3 December 2024. The Indian International Science Festival is the largest science event in the country, engaging the general public and the scientific community 

The 9th edition of the India International Science Festival 2023  was held in Faridabad, Haryana, from 17-20 January 2024. 

The 1st edition of the  India International Science Festival was held at the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi in 2015.

A large number of students, the Indian and foreign scientific community and the general public are expected to participate in the India International Science Festival 2024.

Theme of the 10th Indian International Science Festival

The 10th India International Science Festival theme is “Transforming India into an S&T-driven Global Manufacturing Hub". 

The theme focuses on the government's mission to make India the global manufacturing hub and the crucial contribution of science and technology to industrial growth.

Organiser of the 10 India International Science Festival

The Indian International Science Festival is organised by the Union Ministry of Science and Technology and the Union Ministry of Earth Science in association with Vijnana Bharati. 

 The various departments of the Ministry of Science and Technology—the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), and Department of Biotechnology (DBT)—are involved in the India International Science Festival.

One of the ministry's departments is usually responsible for coordinating the Indian International Science Festival in a particular year.

This year, the coordinating job has been given to the Thurivanathpuram-based CSIR laboratory- National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology.

About Vijnana Bharati

Vijnana Bharti is a non-governmental organisation that works for the development of the swadeshi science movement in the country.

Prof. K I Vasu of the Indian Institute of Science (Bengaluru) led a group of like-minded eminent scientists to start the Swadeshi Science Movement in the country.

In 1991, during the Nagpur meeting, it was decided to launch the Swadeshi Science Movement at the national level named Vijnana Bharati.
