Hitesh Gulia led the Indian boxing contingent to six medals - one gold, one silver, and four bronze at the first leg of the World Boxing Cup Brazil 2025. Hitesh Gulia became the first Indian boxer to win a gold medal at the World Boxing Cup. India finished second in the men's category behind Uzbekistan.

The first leg of the World Boxing Cup 2025 was held at the Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil from 31 March to 5 April 2025, where the world's top men and women boxers participated.

Gold for Hitesh Gulia and Indian Medal Winners 

India sent a 10-man contingent to the  World Boxing Cup Brazil 2025. No Indian women boxers were sent to Brazil.

Hitesh Gulia became the first Indian boxer to win a gold medal in the World Boxing Cup. In the final of the 70 kg weight category, his opponent, Odel Kamara of England, gave a walkover due to his injury. Thus, Hitesh was awarded the gold medal by default.

Silver Medal winner

  • The lone silver medal for India was won by Abhinash Jamwal. He lost the final in the 65kg category to Brazilian Yuri Reis to settle for a silver medal.

Bronze Medal winners 

The semi-finalists in the World Boxing Cup Brazil 2025 were awarded a Bronze medal. The four Indian boxers who lost in the semi-finals were awarded bronze medals.

  • Sachin (men’s 60kg)
  • Vishal (men’s 90kg) 

Final Medals Tally 

Around 130 boxers, both male and female, from 19 countries, participated in the World Boxing Cup Brazil 2025. India did not participate in the women's section 

10 countries won medals in the men's section and 11 countries won medals in the women's section.

About the World Boxing Cup 2025

The  World Boxing Cup series 2025 is being organised by World Boxing. 

It will feature two legs of tournaments in which the world's top male and female boxers will participate. 

The boxers will earn ranking points and on the basis of the points, the top boxers will feature in the World Boxing Cup final.

The first leg was held in Brazil, the second leg will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 30 June to 7 July.

The World Boxing Cup finals are scheduled to be held in India from 15-22 November 2025.
