Additional Chief Secretary Mines and Geology and Industries Mrs. Veenu Gupta informed that the State Mines Department has started the process of e-auction for composite license of Khidarpur potash block of Gadsisar and Karauli Sapotra in Churu district from July 31. Eligible bidders can participate by placing their bids till 4th September.
This will be the first time in the country that an auction has been initiated for a composite license of two potash blocks.
Potash reserves have been proved in the Bikaner division and around Karauli in Rajasthan.
Works in Bharusari Block, Satipura Block, Jhandawali North Block, Jhandawali South Block, Khujan North West Block, Jorkia South Block, Lakhasar Block, Jetpur Block etc. continues.
Potash worth more than ten thousand crores is being imported mainly from Canada, Belarus, Russia, Jordan etc. in the country. Along with this, some quantities are also imported from Israel, Saudi Arabia, Germany etc.
Potash is mainly used as a fertilizer in the agriculture sector, potash is the third important component after nitrogen and phosphorus. Apart from fertilizer, other uses of potash are also used in making glass, gunpowder, chemicals and petrochemicals etc.
In addition to Evaporite located at depth in north-western Rajasthan, glauconitic deposits of potash are also available in Rajasthan.
