The National Health Authority (NHA) under the Union Health Ministry on 5 August 2023, announced the extension of its Digital Health Incentives Scheme (DHIS) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission till 31st of December 2023. According to the NHA as of date, one thousand 205 health facilities have registered under this scheme with 567 public and 638 private hospitals.
The DHIS scheme was launched by the National Health Authority in January 2023 to give a boost to digital health transactions in the country under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Under the Digital Health Incentives Scheme , monetary incentives are provided to eligible health facilities (hospitals and diagnostic labs) and also to the providers of digital health solutions such as Hospital/ Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Laboratory Management Information System (LMIS) registered with ABDM’s Health Facility Registry.
Under the DHIS, the eligible health facilities and digital solutions companies are paid for creation of digital health records of a patient and linking it to ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account). The eligible health facilities can earn upto Rs 4 crore for this service .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) via video conferencing on 27th September 2021.
ABDM aims to provide a health ID(now called as ABHA) to every citizen that will also work as their health account.
The citizen personal health record will be linked with ABHA and can be viewed with the help of a mobile application.
The data will be available to doctors, hospitals ,health insurance companies so that a seamless health care is provided to the patients
It is voluntary and no citizen can be forced to join it .
Chief Executive Officer of National Health Authority : Dr Ram Sewak Sharma
