22 year old Dhiraj Bommadevara won two bronze medals for India at the Archery World Cup 2024 stage 3 in Antalya, Turkiye on 23 June 2024. The Indian team finished their campaign at Antalaya with four medals- one gold,one silver and two bronze.
The Archery World Cup 2024 stage 3 was organised by the World Archery at Antalya, Turkiyee from 18 to 23 June 2024.
Dhiraj Bommadevara who has already qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics defeated Italy’s Olympic medal winner Mauro Nespol 7-3 to win the bronze medal in the men’s recurve play off event.
Earlier in the semifinal Dhiraj was beaten by two time Olympic gold medalist Kim Woojin of South Korea. Kim Woojin later won the gold in the event defeating Brazilian Marcus D'Almeida in the final.
In the mixed recurve event, Dhiraj Bommadevara in partnership with Bhajan Kaur won the bronze medal by defeating the Mexican pair of Alejandra Valencia and Matias Grande 5-3 in the bronze medal playoff.
The Indian women’s compound team of Aditi Swami, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Parneet Kaur won its third consecutive gold medal of the season at the Archery World Cup Stage-3 in Antalya, Turkey,
The Indian women's team defeated the Estonian women's team of Lisell Jaatma, Meeri-Marita Paas and Maris Tetsman in the final.
This was the third consecutive gold medal for the Indian women’s compound team in this year.
They have won gold at the Archery World Cup 2024 stage 1 ,Shanghai, China , Archery World Cup 2024 stage 2 Yecheon, South Korea and again at Antalya.
Also this was the fourth consecutive World Cup Stage gold medal for the Indian women’s compound , as they have won the Archery World Cup 2023 stage 4 at Paris last year.
The 21-year-old Priyansh lost to World No.1 Dutchman Mike Schloesser in the final of the men’s individual compound event. Priyansh had to settle for the silver while the Dutchman Mike Schloesser won the gold medal.
The first Archery World Cup in the present format was organised by the world archery governing body World Archery in 2006
Since then it has been organised annually and the 2024 event is the 18th in the series.
In the 18th Archery World Cup four tournaments are to be organised and they are known as stages in the chronology they are organised. Thus the first event of the 2024 Archery World Cup was held in Shanghai, China hence it was called the Archery World Cup 2024 stage-1.
