Delhi airport included among the 10th busiest airports in the world

Another record has been added to the name of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Delhi). Delhi Airport has been included in the list of ten busiest airports in the world for 2023. Airports Council International (ACI) World has released this list.

Ranking of other airports in the world according to ACI:

America's Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport tops the list. Dubai International Airport is at second place in the ACI World list and Dallas Airport is at third place.
Five of the busiest airports in the ACI World list are from the US. Delhi's IGI Airport is at number 10 in this list.

8.5 billion people travelled by air in 2023:

ACI says that in 2023, 8.5 billion (850 crore) passengers travelled by air all over the world.
This is 93.8 per cent of the number of passengers before the Corona epidemic. Whereas it is 27.2 per cent more than the year 2022.
International air traffic has improved and has come close to domestic traffic which has played an important role in promoting the revival and expansion of the industry.

IGI Airport was ranked ninth in 2022:

Delhi's airport handled more than 7.22 crore passengers in 2023. Whereas, in 2022 the airport was at ninth position.

Location of other airports in terms of passenger handling:

Number one Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport handled more than 104.6 million passengers.
After this, Dubai International Airport handled more than 8.69 crore passengers.

Passenger numbers for an airport include passengers boarding and deboarding airplanes. People who transit are counted once. In this list, the top ten countries in the world in terms of handling passengers are as follows:

- London Heathrow Airport,
- Haneda Airport, Tokyo

Tokyo Haneda recorded the biggest jump in the top 10 rankings:

Five out of the top ten busiest airports in the world are located in the United States. Tokyo Haneda Airport experienced the most significant jump in the top 10 rankings among the world's busiest airports.
Tokyo Haneda, which jumped from 16th in 2022 to 5th in 2023.
