India's Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto have won the women's doubles title at the Guwahati Masters 2023 badminton tournament on December 10. Ashwini and Tanisha defeated Tsung Shuo Yun and Yu Chien Hui of Taipei to clinch their second title in women's doubles.

  • Guwahati Masters 2023 was held at Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium of ‘Sarusajai Sports Complex’, Guwahati, from 5-10 December 2023.
  • Currently, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto are seeded second in the BWF Super 100 tournament.
  • The results of the Guwahati Masters 2023 badminton tournament will be included in the qualifying rankings of players for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
  • Indian pair Hariharan Amsakarunan and R Ruban Kumar had to face defeat in the men's doubles semi-finals of this competition.

Other Titles won by the pair Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto:

  • Indian badminton pair Ashwini and Tanisha also won the Abu Dhabi Masters Super 100 tournament earlier this year.
  • Ashwini and Tanisha also made it to the finals of the Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament in Lucknow last week. But they lost to Japan's Rin Iwanaga and Ki Nakanishi in the deciding match for the title.
  • Ashwini and Tanisha started playing together in January this year. They were also a part of the Indian team in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
  • Earlier, Ashwini Ponnappa had achieved many successes with Jwala Gutta. She won the bronze medal with Jwala in the 2011 World Championships and gold and silver medals in the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, respectively.
