2025 Pulitzers Winner Announced, Check The Winners List Award and Honour 5 min read

One of the most prestigious journalism prizes in the world, the Pulitzer Prize winners for 2025 were announced by Columbia University of the United States of America. The prize winners will be felicitated later in a function to be organised by Columbia University.

This year, the prize honours news agency Reuters for its investigation into the chemicals used to make fentanyl drugs. The New York Times newspaper of the United States of America won four awards this year, taking its total prize tally to a record high of 139, since the prize was started in 1917

The Pulitzer Prize is awarded in journalism and arts categories. Fifteen prizes are in the journalism category and 8 in the arts category.

Public Service 

  • ProPublica.  It was awarded for the investigative work of its reporters, Kavitha Surana, Lizze Presser, Cassandra Jaramillo, and Stacy Kranitz.

Investigative Reporting 

  • Staff of the news agency Reuters for their investigation into the entry of fentanyl drugs in the USA.

International Reporting 

  • Declan Walsh and the New York Times staff for their investigation into the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Breaking News Reporting 

  • Staff of the Washington Post for their coverage of the attempt to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Breaking News Photography 

  • Doug Mills of The New York Times, for capturing photos of the attempted assassination of the then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, in which a bullet was whizzing through the air as Trump was speaking.

Special Awards and Citation 

  • Chuck Stone - For his groundbreaking work as a journalist covering the Civil Rights Movement and for co-founding the National Association of Black Journalists in the United States.

About the Pulitzer Prize 

  • Joseph Pulitzer, owner of a newspaper in the United States, instituted the Pulitzer Prize. 
  • In 1904, he donated money to the Faculty of Journalism at Columbia University to institute an award, as an incentive for excellence in Journalism, art, and culture. 
  • The Pulitzer Prize Board selects the Prize winners.
  • The first Prize was provided in 1917.
