A complete list of Padma Award recipients for the year 2024

The Padma Awards were announced on the eve of Republic Day, on January 25, 2024. A total of 132 celebrities will be given Padma Awards for this year, 2024, in which the names of many famous personalities in the cinema world are also included. Prominent among them are the names of Vyjayantimala and Konidela Chiranjeevi have been selected for the Padma Vibhushan and names of Mithun Chakraborty and Usha Uthup have been selected for the Padma Bhushan Award.
- These awards will be given to the selected personalities by the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan in March or April 2024 this year.
About Padma Award:
- Padma Awards are among the highest civilian awards in the country. These awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
- Padma awards are given in various subjects or fields of activity. These mainly include art, social work, public programs, science and engineering, business and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service etc.
- The 'Padma Vibhushan' award is given for rendering exceptional and distinguished service.
- For distinguished service of high order, he is decorated with 'Padma Bhushan' and for distinguished service in any field, he is honoured with 'Padma Shri'.
- These awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day.
- These awards are presented by the President in organising a formal ceremony. The Padma Awards are usually held every year around March/April at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- This year’s 2024 list includes 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 110 Padma Shri awards. Among the 2024 award winners, 30 are also women.
- The list also includes 8 individuals from the Foreigner/NRI/PIO/OCI category and 9 posthumous award winners.
