MPPSC Selection Process for State Civil Services

As mentioned above, there are three stages of exam for the selection of candidates for the state civil services. Generally, there is no fixed time of the year when these posts are announced. The MPPSC publishes official advertisements whenever some new vacant posts arise within the state government departments. For every set of posts announced, a separate cycle of these civil service exams is organised by the MPPSC.

Therefore, the SSE exams are held in different phases for every set of MPPSC vacancies declared under a notification. Every phase has three levels of eligibility tests, as explained below.

  1. SSE Preliminary exam (Pre): In the first stage, an OMR-based objective type exam is conducted as an initial screening test to shortlist candidates for the Mains exam. Therefore, candidates will only be considered eligible for the next stage (the Mains) if they pass the Prelims.
  1. SSE Mains exam: In the second phase, a descriptive written test is conducted to select candidates for the vacant posts.
  1. Interview & personality test: The candidates who qualify the Mains will be called for the Interview after the inspection of their submitted documents.

NOTE: The SSE Prelims are held only to test the eligibility of candidates for the SSE Mains exam. Marks obtained in the Pre-exams are not taken into account for the final appointment of candidates. The final selection list will be prepared based on marks obtained only in the Mains and Interview phase.

MPPSC SSE Exam Preparation

Your preparation strategy for the Prelims and Mains differs since the exam pattern and syllabus level of both exams are quite different. However, your sincerity and discipline should remain the same for both exams. Here, we have suggested the study approach for both exams in brief.

The MPPSC Preliminary exams will be MCQ-based objective-type tests. Along with having subject knowledge of the different subjects covered under Paper 1, you should also be well-prepared for the common aptitude test in Paper 2. The best way to prepare for this is to solve practice papers and mock tests for MPPSC Pre exams.

The MPPSC Main exams are descriptive and analytical written tests. Students must have comprehensive study plans and extensive writing practice to do well in these exams. If you want to pass the MPPSC Mains in only one attempt, you should seek targeted, experienced advice for your preparations.
