CM Yogi Adityanath announces five spiritual corridors in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the development of five new spiritual corridors in the state following the conclusion of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on 26 February 2025. 

The once-in-144-years Maha Kumbh was held in Prayagraj from 13 January to 26 February 2025, in which over 60 crores people took a dip in the holy sangam in Prayagraj.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that during the Maha Kumbh, five new spiritual corridors have been developed in the state to improve connectivity to prominent religious sites.

The development of five new corridors will boost spiritual tourism in the state and local economy.

Five new Spiritual Corridor 

Following are the newly developed spiritual corridors in Uttar Pradesh, which connect Prayagraj with other spiritual sites.

Prayagraj–Vindhyachal–Kashi corridor

The Prayagraj–Vindhyachal–Kashi corridor connects Prayagraj to Vindhyachal Devi Dham and then to Kashi (Varanasi). 

Vindhyachal Devi Dham is located in the Mirzapur district of the state and is the abode of Goddess Shakti, famous as Maa Vindhyavasini. Kashi is the holy place of Lord Shiva.

Prayagraj–Ayodhya–Gorakhpur 

The Prayagraj–Ayodhya–Gorakhpur connects the birthplace of Lord Rama in Ayodhya and Gorakhpur. 

Gorakhpur derives its name from Saint Gorakhnath of the Nath monastic group.

The Gorakhnath Math in the district is a temple of the Nath monastic group of the Nath tradition.  Guru Matsyendranath founded the Nath tradition in India.

Prayagraj–Lucknow–Naimisharanya route

The Prayagraj–Lucknow–Naimisharanya route connects Prayagraj to Naimisharanya Dham.

The Naimisharanya Dham is situated in the Sitapur district of the state along the Gomti River. It is believed that 33 Hindu crore Gods & Goddesses reside here. 

It is believed to be the mediation site of 88,000 rishis and is one of the 88 sacred pilgrimage sites of Hinduism.

The Dham is mentioned in all the sacred Hindu scriptures and is connected to Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Sati.

Prayagraj–Rajapur–Chitrakoot corridor

The Prayagraj–Rajapur–Chitrakoot corridor passes through the birthplace of Goswami Tulsidas at Rajapur (in the Banda district). Goswami Tulsidas composed Ramcharitmanas, Vinay Patrika, and other Hindu scriptures.

It is believed that Lord Rama, during his 14-year exile, stayed at Chitrakoot. The place is also home to sacred sites such as Kamadgiri Parvat, Ramghat, and Hanuman Dhara.

Prayagraj–Mathura–Vrindavan–Shuk Teerth Corridor

The pilgrim can reach Mathura-Vrindavan and Shuk Teerth from Prayagraj through the Bundelkhand Expressways.

Shuk Teerth is located in the Muzaffarnagar district of the state. It is believed that Sukadeva Goswami narrated the sacred Srimad-Bhagavatam (Bhagavata Purana) to Maharaja Pariksit, son of Abhimanyu.

The twin city of Mathura-Vrindavan is the birthplace of Lord Krishna and is associated with his childhood.
