Lighthouses are permanent structures on rocks, shore or on the seabed. It consists of a beacon at the top of the lighthouse tower. Beacon is a type of attention light which is used to warn ships approaching dangerous areas of the sea. Some lighthouses also have fog horns which sound warnings to passing ships in dangerous areas of the sea in dense fog. Lighthouses also guide ships into or out of port.
