Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 got a new champion in the form of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 17 March 2024. RCB won the final match by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets. For the second time also, Delhi's dream of becoming WPL champion remained unfulfilled.

  • The final match of WPL 2024 was organized at ‘Arun Jaitley Stadium’ in Delhi.

Highlights of the WPL 2024 Final:

  • The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 final match showcased DC-W against RCB-W.
  • In the final match, Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to bat first.
  • In the final match, DC-W was all out for 113 runs in 18.3 overs. In this match, Shreyanka Patil and Molineux bowled brilliantly for RCB-W. Shreyanka Patil took four wickets.
  • In this way RCB-W has got the target of 114 runs to win the title.
  • While chasing the target, RCB made a slow but steady start. 49 run partnership for the first wicket between Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine.
  • Sophie scored 32 runs while captain Smriti Mandhana contributed 31 runs. After this, Ellyse Perry won the match by scoring 35 not out and Richa Ghosh scored 17 not out.
  • Minnu and Shikha took one wicket each.

Shreyanka Patil becomes the best bowler of WPL 2024:

  • RCB's Shreyanka Patil was awarded as the best bowler after the WPL T20 final cricket match.

Awards given after WPL 2024 final:

  • The prize money available in WPL is much less as compared to IPL. Last year, Chennai Super Kings team, which became IPL champion, received Rs 20 crore as prize money. Whereas, runner-up Gujarat Titans got a cheque of Rs 12.5 crore.
  • However, if we compare the amount received by the champion team in the Women's Premier League with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), there is a big difference in it.
  • The winning team in the Women's Premier League receives nearly double the amount compared to the PSL champion. The main prizes of WPL 2024 are as follows:
    • Winning Team (Trophy and Rs 6 crore): Royal Challengers Bangalore
    • Runner-up team (trophy and Rs 3 crore): Delhi Capitals
    • Powerful Striker of the Match (Trophy and Rs 1 lakh): Shafali Verma
    • Sixes of the Match (Trophy and Rs 1 lakh): Shafali Verma
    • Player of the Match (Trophy and Rs 2.5 lakh): Sophie Molineux
    • Georgia Wareham was awarded the Powerful Striker of the Season trophy and Rs 5 lakh.
    • Sixes of the Season (Trophy and Rs 5 lakh): Shafali Verma
    • Shreyanka Patil was awarded the Emerging Player of the Season trophy and Rs 5 lakh.
    • Fairplay Award: Royal Challengers Bangalore
    • Sajeevan Sajna was awarded the Catch of the Season Award (Trophy and Rs 5 lakh)
    • Purple Cap (cap and Rs 5 lakh) for most wickets in the season: Shreyanka Patil
    • Orange Cap for most runs in the season (cap and Rs 5 lakh): Ellyse Perry
    • Deepti Sharma was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the Season trophy and Rs 5 lakh.
