The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed 1990 batch IPS Rajeev Kumar Sharma of Rajasthan cadre as DG of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD). His tenure will be till his superannuation on June 30, 2026. Rajeev Kumar Sharma will replace Balaji Srivastava at the end of March.
ACC appointed several other chiefs:
- The central government gave the green signal to many big appointments on 27 March 2024. Under this, new Directors General (DG) have been appointed in NIA, BPRD and NDRF. An order related to this has also been issued. Major among these are the following:
- ACC has also appointed Piyush Anand, a 1991 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, as the current Special Director General in CISF.
- Piyush Anand will be the new chief of NDRF. The Home Ministry's proposal for premature repatriation of PV Rama Sastry, a 1989 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre and currently serving as Special Director General of Border Security Force, has also been approved.
- IPS Sadanand was appointed as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency.
- IPS Piyush Anand has been appointed as the Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
- IPS Rajeev Kumar Sharma has been given the responsibility of Director General of BPRD.

- Sadanand Vasant is a 1990 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre.
About Rajeev Kumar Sharma:
- The ACC has appointed Rajeev Kumar Sharma, a 1990 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, as the Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development. ,
About Piyush Anand:
- IPS Piyush Anand will be the new chief of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Anand, a 1991 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is currently the Special Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
- He has been appointed Director General of NDRF for a period of two years, the order said. Anand will replace Atul Karwal, who is retiring on March 31.
S Suresh becomes Additional Director General of SPG:
- The ACC has appointed S Suresh, a 1995 batch IPS officer of Kerala cadre, as Additional Director General in the Special Protection Group (SPG).
One year extension in service of Joint Director of CBI:
- The Center extended the tenure of senior IPS officer Supriya Patil Yadav as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by one year on March 27, 2024. He is a 2004 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Maharashtra cadre.
- It has been approved to extend the tenure of Supriya as Joint Director of CBI for one year from April 17, 2024, i.e. till April 17, 2025.
