Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan assumed charge as the 28th Director General of Border Roads Organization (DGBR) on September 30, 2023. Srinivasan assumed this charge after the retirement of Lieutenant General Rajiv Chaudhary.
Prior to his appointment as DGBR, the General Officer held the post of Commandant, College of Military Engineering, Pune.
Achievements of Raghu Srinivasan:
Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan is an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers in 1987.
During his illustrious service, Srinivasan has participated in Operation Vijay, Operation Rakshak and Operation Parakram. He has significant experience of serving in the border areas, especially in Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
He has also been an instructor at the Indian Military Advisory Group, Lusaka, Zambia and the Defense Services Staff College. For his distinguished service, he has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal.
Border Roads Organization (BRO):
BRO was established on May 07, 1960 with the objective of securing India's borders through development of infrastructure in the remote areas of the Northern and North-Eastern States.
BRO celebrated its 64th Raising Day on 07 May, 2023 in all detachments across the country.
BRO has dedicated itself to the nation by constructing more than 63,000 kilometers of roads, 976 bridges, six tunnels and 21 airfields since its inception.
In the last one year, BRO has completed a record 193 projects at a cost of Rs 5,400 crore in eight border states and three Union Territories.
BRO had inaugurated a technical training complex and an automated driving track on the occasion of its foundation day. These facilities will enhance the training standards of BRO personnel and help them be better prepared for various challenges.
A BRO-centric software developed as part of the 'Digital India' initiative was also launched on the occasion of the Foundation Day of BRO. These software have been developed to integrate Recruitment Management System, Electronic Measurement Book and Work Management System to provide smooth and quick output and enhance transparency and automate various aspects of the functioning of BRO.
