Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to his home state Gujarat on September 27 2023, laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation various projects worth more than Rs 5,200 crores in Bodeli, Chhotaudepur. The Prime Minister also addressed the programme marking 20-year celebrations of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit at Science City in Ahmedabad.Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Summit of Success Pavilion at the Science City Ahmedabad.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi was received by the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat and the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel.
Mission Schools of Excellence project
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mission Schools of Excellence at Trimandir, Adalaj, Gujarat, on October 19, 2022. The Mission with a financial outlay of Rs 10,000 crores seeks to boost the educational infrastructure in the state. The Mission involves the development of 50 thousand new classrooms, more than one lakh smart classrooms, 20,000 computer labs, and 5,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in 20 thousand schools in the state.
During his visit, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone worth more than Rs 4,500 crore under the 'Mission Schools of Excellence for improving and upgrading thousands of classrooms across Gujarat schools under the Mission.
Thousands of new classrooms, smart classrooms, computer labs, STEM (Science, Technology Engineering, and Mathematics) labs and other infrastructure built across schools in Gujarat under the Mission have been dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the project' Vidya Samiksha Kendra 2.0'. This project seeks to build on the success of 'Vidya Samiksha Kendra'.
Vidya Samiskha Kendra was launched in Gujarat by the chief minister Vijay Rupani in 2021.
The 'Vidya Samiksha Kendra' is tasked with collecting data to track key performance indicators in schools — such as attendance of teachers and students — as well as undertake summative and periodic assessments of learning outcomes of students.
The Vidya Samiksha Kendra 2.0' will lead to the establishment of Vidya Samiksha Kendras in all districts and blocks of Gujarat.
Prime Minister Modi later addressed the programme marking 20 years of celebration of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit at Science City in Ahmedabad.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit was started 20 years ago on September 28 2003, when Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat. The aim was to showcase investment opportunities in Gujarat to the Indian and foreign investors and to make the state a favourite investment destination. It is now considered to be a premier business summit in India.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi said the contribution of Gujarat to the Indian economy is significant.
