'National e-Vidhan Application' Inaugarets by President Murmu Person in News 5 min read

President Draupadi Murmu September 13, 2023 launched the 'National e-Vidhan Application' (Neva) Digital House project and addressed the Gujarat Legislative Assembly in Gandhinagar.

President Murmu is on his two-day (13-14 September) visit to Gujarat. During this, President Murmu addressed the MLAs on the first day of the monsoon session of the Gujarat Assembly.

  • Through the National e-Vidhan Application (Neva) Members of this House can learn from and adopt the best practices of Parliament and other Legislatures in the country.

National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA):

  • The Neva project has been implemented under the 'One Nation, One Application' concept envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the aim of making the functioning of the House paperless. This will bring transparency in the functioning of the Assembly.

Promotion of One Nation One Application Initiative:

  • President Murmu expressed confidence that this initiative, inspired by the goal of “One Nation One Application”, will further accelerate the functioning of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and bring transparency in it. The environment will also be protected as the entire process of the House becomes paperless.

Gujarat one of the leading states in the country on many parameters:

  • President Murmu said that Gujarat is one of the leading states of the country on many parameters. Gujarat is a leading manufacturing center and one of the largest producers of milk in the country.
  • The President said that Gujarat is one of the leading states in terms of startup ecosystem.
  • Along with this, it is also counted among the leading states in roof top solar energy production and wind energy production.

Emphasis on creating better human resources:

  • The President said that human resources play an important role in the economic progress of any state.
  • Providing a good health system, quality education, basic facilities like electricity and water to the public is important for the development of human resources.
  • Due to the efforts of the government, girl education, teacher-student ratio, enrollment ratio and drop-out rate have improved.
  • Appreciated the better medical services being provided in rural areas through the three-tier health system, which has led to reduction in maternal mortality ratio and infant mortality rate. President Murmu appreciated the important work done in power reforms and water harvesting and water supply in Gujarat in the last two decades.
  • The President expressed happiness over the initiatives of the State Government for animal welfare.
  • Referring to the formation of the Global Biofuel Alliance during the G-20 Summit, the President said that after the International Solar Alliance, this is another important step taken under the leadership of India for environmental protection and energy self-reliance. She said that this is a good opportunity for a state like Gujarat, which promotes innovative and non-conventional sources of energy.
  • The President said that technology is an important tool in making people's lives easier and e-Vidhan will further help legislators stay connected with the people.
