South Zone Wins Their 9th Deodhar Trophy Defeating East Zone In Final

South Zone won their 9th Deodhar Trophy title by defeating East Zone by 45 runs in the final played at Puducherry on 3rd August 2023. South Zone remained undefeated in the recently concluded 48th Deodhar Trophy 2023.
The 48th Deodhar trophy 2023 was organised by the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in July/August 2023 in Puducherry.
In the final match batting first South Zone scored 328 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. South Zone opener Rohan Kunnummal scored a raipd fire 107 runs in 75 balls.
Chasing 329 for victory the East Zone were bowled out for 283 in 46.1 overs.
Washington Sunder was the star bowler for the South Zone who took crucial 3 wickets for 60 runs.
South Zone was led by Mayank Aggarwal and Saurabh Tiwary was the captain of East Zone.
This was the second title win for the South Zone this year after having won the Duleep Trophy 2023 final against the East Zone.
A total of six teams participated in the 48th Deodhar Trophy 2023. The teams were South Zone, North Zone, West Zone, East Zone, North East Zone and Central Zone.
South Zone 328/8 in 50 overs
East Zone 283 all out in 46.1 overs.

Deodhar Trophy is a List A domestic, 50 overs one-day cricket tournament organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Deodhar trophy is named after Professor Dinkar Balwant Deodhar popularly known as the Grand Old Man of Indian cricket.
The first Deodhar Trophy was organised in 1973-74 which was won by South Zone .
North Zone is the most successful team having won the trophy 13 times .
The last Deodhar Trophy was held in 2019 and it was won by India B team .
