Before the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was announced the Rajasthan government ordered a series of appointments.
Rajasthan Farmers Commission was formed to investigate and review the issues, provide appropriate suggestions to the state government, hold talks with farmer organizations/unions, and make the government aware of their demands.
Acknowledging the needs of the Gujjar community and recommendations by various experts, the State Government set up a dedicated Institution—the ‘Devnarayan Board’—with one President and four members to oversee development activities in the districts with significant Gujjar populations: Dholpur, Alwar, SawaiMadhopur, Jhalawar, and Karauli. The President of the Board was given the privileges and status of a Cabinet Minister.
Honoring Amrita Devi, a Bishnoi woman who sacrificed her life in 1730 while protecting Khejri trees in Jodhpur, the name of Animal Welfare Board in Rajasthan, or Jeev Jantu Kalyan Board was changed.
