HS Prannoy settles for Silver at the Australian open 2023 Badminton

Prannoy Hassena Sunil Kumar also known as HS Prannoy of Kerala had to settle for the silver medal at the Australian Open 2023 Badminton Championships . He lost in the final ,played at the state sport centre in Sydney, Australia on 6 August 2023 against China's Weng Hong Yang.

HS Prannoy  is currently ranked world No.9 in the world badminton ranking. He won the Malaysian Masters Super 500 in May 2023. 

The results of the Australian Open will count towards players’ qualifying rankings for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Australian open 2023  is a BWF super 500 tournament  which was held from 1-6 August 2023 in Sydney.

BWF (Badminton World Federation ):

It is an international  governing body of Badminton in the world .

It was set up as the International Badminton Federation in 1934 and later converted into the World Badminton Federation in 2006.

Currently it has 198 members.
