PM Modi Tops Global Survey as Most Popular Democratic Leader Again

The American digital media and survey research company Morning Consult has ranked Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the most popular leader in a democratic country for the fifth time in a row. 

On 25 July 2025, Prime Minister Modi broke the record of Indira Gandhi as the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of India, serving for 4077 consecutive days. consecutive time

Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru holds the record of being the Prime Minister of India for a consecutive 16 years and 286 days.

PM Modi Beats World Leaders for the 5th Consecutive Time 

The latest survey, which was conducted between 4-10 July 2025, ranked PM Modi as the most popular democratic leader with a 75% approval rating. Prime Minister Modi was followed by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, who had an approval rating of 59%. American President Donald Trump was ranked eighth with an approval rating of 44%.

3. Javier Mili (President of Argentina)-Approval rating of 57%

5. Anthony Albanese (Prime Minister of Australia)- Approval rating of 54%
6. Claudia Sheinbaum (President of Mexico)- Approval rating of 53%
7. Karin Keller Sutter (President of Switzerland)- Approval rating of 48%
8. Donald Trump (President of the United States of America)-Approval rating of 44%
9. Giorgia Meloni (Prime Minister of Italy)- Approval rating of 40%
10. Cyril Ramaphosa (President of South Africa)- Approval rating of 37%

Previous Surveys

Since September 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has topped the Morning Consult’s Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker.

In September 2021, he received an approval rating of 70%. Narendra Modi has almost consistently maintained an approval rating of 70 % in the Morning Consult survey. 

His highest approval rating has been 78%, which PM Modi achieved in February 2024.

The rating is based on an online survey of the country’s citizens.
