The Indian Squash team put up a spectacular performance at the 2nd Asian Squash Doubles Championship 2025 by winning all three titles on offer. Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh featured in two of the three wins.
Arena Emas in Kuching, Malaysia, hosted the 2nd Asian Squash Doubles Championship from 23-26 June 2025. The Championship was jointly organised by the Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia and the Squash Racquets Association of Sarawak.
Anahat SIngh &Joshna Chinappa Win Women's Doubles Title
- The pair of 17-year-old Anahat Singh and veteran Joshna Chinappa defeated the Malaysian pair of Ainaa Amani and Yee Xin Ying 2-1 (8-11, 11-9, 11-10) in the final of the Women’s Doubles.
- The duo of Anahat Singh and Joshna Chinappa are the first Indian pair to win the women’s doubles title at the Asian Squash Doubles Championship.
Anahat and Abhay Singh win Mixed Doubles Title
- Anahat Singh teamed up with Abhay Singh to win the mixed doubles title.
- In the final, the Indian pair defeated the Malaysian pair of Ameesha Raj Chandran and Rachel Arnold 2-0 (11-9, 11-7) to clinch the gold medal.
- The pair of Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh had won a bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China, in 2023.
Abhay and Senthilkumar win Men’s Doubles Title
- The defending champions, Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar, defended their title by defeating the Pakistani pair of Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal in the final.
- The final match, which lasted 88 minutes, was a hard-fought one, with the Indian emerging as the winner by a 2-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-5) scoreline.
About the First Asian Squash Doubles Championship 2024
The first Asian Squash Doubles Championships were held in Johor, Malaysia, in July 2024.
India won two tiles at the inaugural Championship. It won the mixed and men’s doubles titles.
In the men’s doubles, Abhay singh partnered with Velavan Senthilkumar and in mixed, Abhay singh partnered with Joshna Chinappa.
