G20 Ministerial Conference on Women Empowerment in Gandhinagar Summit and Conference 2 min read

The G20 Women Empowerment Summit began on 2 August 2023 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This convention is being organized till August 4 at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

This three-day conference is being organized under the leadership of Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani.

Theme of the conference:

  • The theme of the conference is 'Developing Women's Leadership: Ensuring a Sustainable, Inclusive and Equitable World'.

  • The conclave will discuss topics such as education, a transformative path for women empowerment, skilling opportunities for women and women in emerging technologies with a focus on women-led development.

  • Discussions and talks focused on priority areas such as education are being held during the conference.

  • Also, an exhibition on the theme 'India @ 75: Contribution of Women' is being organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

More than 150 delegates are participating: 

  • Over 150 delegates led by heads of delegations of G20 members, invited countries and international organizations are participating in the three-day ministerial meeting.

  • The Empower Summit was held on 31 July 2023 under the G20 Presidency of India before the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women Empowerment.

  • After this, the main event started from 1 August 2023, where Union Minister Smriti Irani and G20 Sherpa G20 Empower Digital Inclusion Platform were launched.
