Felix Tshisekedi Elected President Of Congo For 2nd Consecutive Term

Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi has again won the presidential election. Tshisekedi received more than 73 percent of the votes. Tshisekedi has won the presidential election for the second consecutive time. Felix Tshisekedi has defeated his rival opposition leader, Moise Katumbi.

Voting was held in the country on 20 December 2023. The announcement of the results took place in the capital, Kinshasa. The opposition and some civil groups have demanded re-polling due to l
ogistical problems.
According to Denis Kadima, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Tshisekedi received more than 13 million votes out of 18 million.
Felix's nearest rival, businessman Moise Katumbi, received 18 percent of the vote. Another candidate, Martin Fayulu, got five percent of the votes.

Most of Congo lies in the interior humid tropical or equatorial climate zone extending five degrees north and south of the equator. Southern Congo and the far north have a somewhat dry subequatorial climate.
