The 6th regional centre of the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development was inaugurated at Ranchi, Jharkhand, on 4th July 2025. The centre will cater to the needs of the four eastern states of Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal.
The opening of the new regional centre in Ranchi is expected to enhance the quality of service delivery of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development schemes.
The Ranchi regional centre was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, on 4th July 2025.
During the ceremony, Mrs Savitri Thakur, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, and Sanjay Seth, Union Minister of State for Defence, were present.
The Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development was established by the central government on 28 February 1966 as the Central Institute of Research and Training in Public Cooperation.
In 1975, it was renamed the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development.
Renamed as the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development on 2 July 2025.

It is the apex research and training institute that assists the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development in the implementation of the following schemes:
