Noah Lyles and Faith Kipyegon were named Track Athletes of the Year by World Athletics. Noah Lyles of America was declared the best male track athlete at a ceremony held in Monaco on 11 December 2023. Kenya's Faith Kipyegon was declared the best female track athlete.
Noah Lyles received three gold medals in 2023:
- American athlete Noah Lyles won three gold medals at the World Athletics Championships in 2023. That included individual gold medals in the 100m and 200m and gold medals as part of the 4×100 m relay team.
Kipyegon received two gold medals in 2023:
- Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon has won two gold medals this year with making world records.
- Faith Kipyegon won gold medals in the 1500m and 5000m World Athletics Championships in 2023.

- Rising Star of the Year – Faith Cherotich and Emmanuel Wanyonyi (Kenya).
Last year, the 2022 winners were in the category of 400m hurdles, world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levron of America and pole vault world record holder Duplantis.
The winners were selected through a vote involving the World Athletics Council (50%), the World Athletics family (25%) and the public (25%).
Noah Lyles, Mondo Duplantis and Neeraj Chopra were among the 11 nominees for Male World Athlete of the Year 2023.
