Pakistani batsman Babar Azam became the fastest batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket on 21 February 2024. In this sequence, Babar Azam achieved this feat leaving behind Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli.

Babar Azam is the fastest player to achieve this feat in terms of innings, in terms of matches and time taken.

Babar achieved this feat in 281 matches:

Babar achieved this feat during his 72-run innings for his team Peshawar Zalmi against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. Before the game in Lahore, Babar was just six runs short of the 10,000-run mark. Babar has achieved this position in 271 innings, 281 matches and 11 years and 82 days.

Gayle and Kohli were left behind by Babar:

West Indies legend Chris Gayle had achieved this feat in 285 innings, 290 matches and 11 years and 215 days.
Whereas India's Virat Kohli achieved this feat in 299 innings, 314 matches and 14 years and 176 days.
Virat Kohli is the first Indian to score ten thousand runs in T20 cricket. After Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma has also completed ten thousand runs in T20 cricket. Thus, there are only two Indian batsmen who have completed ten thousand runs in T20 cricket.
