Indian Billiards star Pankaj Advani has won the World Billiards Championship for the 26th time. Pankaj Advani won the point-time format (long format) title of IBSF Billiards Championship 2023 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Defeated Saurav Kothari in a one-sided match:

  • 38-year-old cue star Pankaj defeated his own countryman Sourav Kothari 1000-416 in the final match.
  • Pankaj has won the billiards title for the 18th time. Pankaj won his first world title 20 years ago on 21 November 2003. Then Pankaj became world champion in snooker.
  • After that Pankaj won the first world title of billiards in the year 2005.

All four Indian players clashed in the semi-finals:

  • All four Indian players were face to face in the semi-finals also. Advani had defeated compatriot Rupesh Shah 900-273 in the semi-finals, while Sourav Kothari defeated Dhruv Sitwala 900-756 in the semi-finals.

Point-Time Format:

  • Pankaj Advani has won this title in point format. It is also called long format. In this category, the player has to score one thousand points to win the match, whereas in the time format, these points have been divided into different frames.
  • There is a frame of 150 points. In this format, the player has to score 150 points to win the frame. 
  • The matches in this category are played on the basis of best of 3, best of 5 and best of 7.
