Examination of “REET and Assistant Lecturer” postponed due to EWS reservation

The Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) and the College Assistant Lecturer (College Education Department), which was scheduled to be held on April 25, 2021, by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission has been postponed due to EWS Reservations according to the press notes released on official websites. Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) 2021: The Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) to be held on Sunday 25 April has been postponed by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education. This examination has been postponed due to the opportunity given to the candidates of the Economically Weaker (EWS) category for the implementation of the announcement made by the Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Gehlot in the Legislative Assembly in the budget session.

Chairman of Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education and Chief Coordinator of Reit Prof. (Dr.) DP Jaroli said on Saturday that according to the instructions of the Chief Minister, the board would soon give the candidates of Economically Weaker (EWS) category the opportunity to apply for the REET exam. Its dates will be announced soon. Now the Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) will be held on 20 June 2021 (Sunday).

Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Ajmer: In the work of Personnel Department letter dated 26 March 2021, due to the benefits of age limit and application fee to the candidates of Economically Weaker (EWS) category, the Commission dated 4 April 2021 to 11 April 2021 and The College Assistant Lecturer (Department of College Education) Competitive Examination 2020, was going to be held from 28 April 2021 to 02 May 2021, has been postponed. The new dates will be released in due course.

What is EWS Reservation:

In the first cabinet meeting of 2019, it was decided to arrange 10% reservation for backward upper castes. For this, the 103rd constitution was amended, which included clause (6) in article 15, article 16. To give reservation to backward upper castes, the government has set certain scales. With this, the EWS category has also been clarified, which will determine the reservation.

These upper castes will get the benefit of EWS reservation –

  • Revenue is less than eight lakhs
  • Have less than 5 hectares of agricultural land
  • If there is a house, it should be less than 1000 square feet
  • If the corporation has a residential plot, the land should be less than 109 yards
  • If the plot is outside the corporation, it should be less than 209 yards
