The CBSE Class 12 Exam Pattern for 2026 is designed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). The board has transitioned toward a competency-based assessment model to prioritize conceptual clarity over rote learning.

Overview of CBSE Class 12 Assessment Scheme

The total assessment for each subject is 100 marks, divided into two main components:

• Theory Paper: Depending on the subject, the theory exam carries 70 or 80 marks.
• Practical/Internal Assessment: The remaining 20 or 30 marks are awarded based on practical exams, project work, and internal assessments conducted by the school.
