UP announces Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Yojana’ on the 78th I-Day Uttar Pradesh 3 min read

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan Yojana’ to boost employment opportunities for the state's youth. The yojana was announced on 15 August 2024, on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day celebration in the state capital, Lucknow.

Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan Yojana

  • Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan Yojana, the state government will provide financial support to the state's young entrepreneurs.
  • Under the Yojana, the state government has set a target of establishing 10 lakh new MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in the state.
  • The government hopes to create 50 lakh employment opportunities directly and indirectly through the  Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan Yojana.

Government Steps for Employment generation in State 

  • According to the chief minister, 1.62 crore young people have secured employment through the investments made in the state so far. 
  • Around 62 lakh youth have been connected with self-employment opportunities by leveraging central and state government schemes.
  • 6.5 lakh youth secured government jobs in the past seven years. 
  • The state government has set up a dedicated start-up fund to finance new ventures and promote entrepreneurship in the state.
  • To make the youth technically adept, the government is distributing 2 crore smartphones and tablets for free under the Swami Vivekanand Youth Empowerment Scheme.

One District One University Scheme 

  • The Yogi government has launched an ambitious One District, One University plan. Uttar Pradesh has universities in all 18 divisions of the state, and the state government wants to establish a university in all 75 districts. 
  • The Chief Minister said that Maharaja Suheldev University in Azamgarh, Raja Mahendradev University in Aligarh, and Maa Shakumbhari Devi University in Saharanpur have already become operational.
  • He also said that work is underway to establish Guru Jambeshwar University in Moradabad, Maa Pateshwari University in Devipatan Mandal, Maa Vindhyavasini University in Mirzapur, and the Mahatma Buddha Agriculture and Technology University in Kushinagar.
