Tamil Nadu Government Signs 97 MoUs Worth ₹67,542 Crore

The Tamil Nadu government signed 97 fresh Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Chennai on August 13, 2026, bringing in a total investment commitment of ₹67,452 crore. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Industries Minister S Keerthana, marking a significant investment milestone for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, which took office in May 2026.

What Does Tamil Nadu Sign 97 MoUs Cover?

The 97 agreements span several key sectors, including automotive, renewable energy, life sciences, electronics, R&D, and data centres. Together, these projects are expected to create employment opportunities for more than one lakh people across the state.

1. These MoUs were exchanged at the first-ever "Vettri Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2026," organised by the newly formed TVK government. 
2. According to Minister Keerthana, the investments include a mix of greenfield projects, where companies are choosing Tamil Nadu for the first time, and brownfield expansions, where existing companies are scaling up their presence in the state. 
3. She noted that within the government's first 100 days, cumulative investment commitments are expected to cross ₹1 lakh crore, generating over 1.20 lakh jobs, averaging around ₹1,000 crore in commitments for every single day the government has been in office. 
4. Since May, the total number of MoUs signed has reached 104, aligning with the state's broader goal of building a $1.5 trillion economy.

Tamil Nadu Draws Over ₹2,700 Crore in Life Sciences

1. The life sciences sector alone saw eight companies sign MoUs, covering areas like biologics manufacturing, medical devices, diagnostics, and vaccines. 
2. Caplin Group will invest ₹925 crore to set up an integrated biologics and biosimilars facility in Tiruvallur — the state's first facility of this scale built for global regulated markets. 
3. S3V Vascular Technologies will invest ₹525 crore in Kanchipuram to manufacture cardiovascular and neurovascular implants, its first such facility in India. 
4. Cellbios Healthcare & Lifesciences will invest ₹150 crore across Dindigul and Krishnagiri.
5. Green Signal Bio Pharma, a leading BCG vaccine manufacturer, will invest ₹130 crore in Tiruvallur.
