Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina won the general elections for the fourth consecutive time. Sheikh Hasina will take oath as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the fifth time. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's party, Awami League, won the Bangladesh elections for the fifth time.
- Sporadic violence and the boycott of the elections by the main opposition, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and its allies made the path to victory easier for Hasina's party, the Awami League.
Awami League obtained a two-thirds majority:
- Hasina's party, Awami League, has secured 223 seats in the 300-seat Parliament. Elections were held on 299 seats due to the death of one candidate. Voting on this seat will take place later.

- Awami League Party chief Hasina (76) has won the Gopalganj-III seat by a huge margin of votes.
Hasina will become Prime Minister for the fifth time:
- Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been in power since 2009. This is Prime Minister Hasina's eighth term as a Member of Parliament. Sheikh Hasina will become the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the fifth time.
- This is the second lowest turnout since the restoration of democracy in 1991.
- The controversial elections of February 1996 had a voter turnout of 26.5 percent, the lowest in the history of Bangladesh.
- In the January 7, 2024 elections, 27.15 percent voting took place till 3 pm and the voting process ended at 4 pm.
- With this victory, Hasina is on her way to becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister of Bangladesh since independence.
- BNP, the party led by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, boycotted the elections and went on strike on the day of the elections.
- The main opposition party, BNP, has termed the elections "fake". It also plans to intensify its anti-government movement through a peaceful public participation program from January 9, 2024.
