About River Saraswati
According to a report of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Vedic Saraswati rivers flowed parallel to the present-day Indus River system in around 6000 B.C.
- The Saraswati River originated in the Himalayas and along with several tributaries like Sutlej, Yamuna, Chautang, and Drishadvati, flowed through the western part of Indo-Gangetic alluvial plains.
- The Saraswati river system passed through the present states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan and finally discharged into Rann of Kachchh in Gujarat.
- Around 3000 B.C. the river dried up and disappeared due to climatic and tectonic changes in the Himalayan region.
