Prof. B.R. Kamboj, Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, has been awarded the M.S. Swaminathan Award for his work as a scientist and extension specialist in agronomy.
- Thawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka, presented the award at an International Conference on 'One Health One World' held at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Achievements of Prof. B.R. Kamboj
- The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B.R. Kamboj, deeply understands farmers' problems, needs and socio-economic conditions.
- His agricultural recommendations, based on extensive research work and collaborative extension activities with university scientists, have consistently proven highly beneficial for farmers.
- Prof Kamboj has published around 300 research papers and articles in national and international journals, books and technical magazines.
About M.S. Swaminathan Award
The Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences has established the "Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Award for Leadership in Agriculture" to honour Dr. M.S. Swaminathan.
- The award is highly regarded and was created in 2004 to recognize the lifelong contributions of distinguished individuals who have had a global impact on agriculture, including food security and sustainability in India.
- The first Nobel Laureate for Peace award was presented to Dr Norman E. Borlaug by the Honorable President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on March 15th, 2005.
- In the previous year, the thirteenth award was presented to Dr Surinder (Suri) M. Sehgal, Founder of SM Sehgal Foundation (India) and Sehgal Foundation (USA), on August 19th, 2023.
Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan (MS Swaminathan) died on September 28 2023.
MS Swaminathan is considered the Father of the Indian Green Revolution, whereas Dr. Norman E. Borlaug is the Father of the Green Revolution.
