Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the 7th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games on 4 May 2025. The 7th Khelo India Youth Games 2025 is being hosted by Bihar from 4 to 15 May 2025, though three sporting events will also be held in New Delhi. This is the first time that Bihar is hosting the Khelo India Youth Games.
The inaugural ceremony of the 7th Khelo India Games 2025 was held at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was the Chief Guest. Union Minister for Youth Affairs Mansukh Mandaviya, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Samrat Chaudhary, and Vijay Sinha were also present.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the game open virtually.
At the 7th Khelo India Youth Games 2025, 27 competitive sports and one demo sport will be held.
The sporting events will be held in Bihar and New Delhi.
New Delhi will host the gymnastics, shooting, and cycling events.
The rest of the events will take place in Bihar.
Within Bihar, the events will be held at Patna, Rajgir, Begusarai, Gaya and Bhagalpur.
Around 5,000 athletes from 36 States and Union Territories are competing.
Organiser of the Khelo india Youth Games
The Khelo India programme was introduced by the government of India in 2017 to revive the country's sports culture. It aims to strengthen sports at the grassroots level and establish India as a great sporting nation.
The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs, in partnership with the IOA, organises Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India University Games (KIUG) and the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG)
