After 100 years, the Qadian–Beas Railway Line Project was revived by the central government.

On 18 June 2026, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu announced the revival of the long-pending 39.68 km Qadian–Beas New Railway Line Project in Punjab, a project executed by Northern Railway that was first approved during the British era in 1928–29 and is now finally moving forward after nearly 100 years.
This railway line connects Qadian (Gurdaspur district) to Beas (Amritsar district) in Punjab.

The Qadian-Beas railway project was first approved in 1928–29 under the British government. Work gained momentum in the 1930s but was later stopped due to various reasons. It was revived again in the 2010–11 Railway Budget under the Socially Desirable Rail Connectivity Programe, but saw no real progress.
