SEBI has launched the "Samajh Se Investing Simple" campaign under Project Jagrook to make investing easier to understand and to protect people from financial fraud. It was launched on 5 October 2026 at Panjab University, Chandigarh, on the first day of World Investor Week 2026.
Project Jagrook is a nationwide financial literacy programme run by SEBI with its Securities Market Partners. These include NISM, BSE, NSE, MCX, CDSL, NSDL and AMFI. It uses both physical and digital methods and reaches people in many languages, so that investor education goes beyond traditional awareness drives.
This is the awareness campaign under Project Jagrook. It asks investors to learn about different investment products, their features and their risks. Investors are also advised to check whether a platform is genuine and to verify payment requests before sending money. The campaign is the theme of World Investor Week 2026, held from 5 to 11 October. This is the 10th edition of the week, organised every year under IOSCO.
SEBI wants people to understand what they are investing in, rather than just join the market. The goal is responsible investing and protection against frauds, which is why risk awareness and platform checks are stressed.
MUST stands for Mentoring of University/College Students by Trainers. Under it, faculty members, staff or senior students are trained and certified as Partner Trainers by SEBI, its partners and NISM. They will teach basic financial literacy, informed investing and fraud prevention on campuses. SEBI is working with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to spread MUST and Project Jagrook across colleges.
An interactive student leaflet compares investing with a trek, showing that both have ups and downs and need preparation. It also includes a "Spot the Differences" game.
SEBI has started an official WhatsApp Channel with a blue tick, reachable through 1800 22 7575, so users can tell it apart from fake accounts. Awareness work will also continue with state and UT governments and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The Panjab University event also featured an exhibition of paintings on the securities market.
